Heatree Camp Day Three Part One: Rock Scrambling
Wednesday November 01st 2017, 6:25 pm

The children all slept so well that the adults had to go and wake them all up at 7.30 this morning!

We had our breakfast and got ourselves ready for another morning on the Moor. We travelled back up to Hound Tor kitted out in our protective headgear and the children tested their limits squeezing through the tiniest gaps in between the rocks. Every single child in the class pushed themselves to their limits.

Fantastic Heatree photos, big Welton smiles and great Dartmoor weather!

I am enjoying seeing your photos so much as I’m sure your parents are.

Looks like you are all having a wonderful time.  I am missing you all and wish I were there.

Enjoy the rest of your week and I can’t wait to hear all your stories.

Heatree Camp Day Two: Wilderness Adventure
Tuesday October 31st 2017, 6:15 pm

We all slept really well which was lucky because we had a long day ahead today! We had a hearty breakfast, were very independent tidying our rooms for inspection and packed our bags for our long walk!

Once layered up we had our briefing and set off. We had trail leaders that lead the line each time and had many stops on the way to look at the stunning views!

Firstly we stopped at a medevial village by Hound Tor where we played a game pretending we were villagers 800 years ago trading our produce.

Then we walked up to Hound Tor where we had our lovely lunch which included vegetable and tomato soup heated up by our group leaders.

We played some fun games on the Moor where we had to hide out of view from the group leaders. The children enjoyed this and we played it a few times at different parts of the Moor.

We then began the next part of our journey to Bowermans Nose where we were told the myth about Bowerman and his hounds who were turned to stone by some witches. The children found the geo-cashing stamp and had some yummy hot chocolate whilst we were there. The children also tried something new… Gauze flowers. The jury is out on that one!

This evening we had some free time, visited the gift shop, had chicken pie for dinner, played a game called Spotlight with torches on the field in the dark and then had our talent show.

Heatree Camp Day One: Tamakale Island

We had a good journey down to Heatree and ate our lunch in the sun!

After lunch we met Simon our leader for the next couple of days who taught us about the NOLA award which Heatree follows and we hope to achieve by the end of the week. The children must follow and show the Heatree values which are: Safe, Respect and Learn all week. We were able to use these values in our first activity which was called ‘Tamakale Island’. This was a team building task which challenged the children to use their Heatree values in various different activities.

We found out our rooms which everyone is very pleased with as you can see…

Then we had Sheperd’s pie for tea which was enjoyed by all.

Tonight we are practising for our talent show and tomorrow we are looking forward to our ‘Wildnerness Adventure’ walk on the moors!
